FixKit Lab helps DIY fixers and multi-device tinkerers choose tools and parts, run simplerepair-vs-replace math, and know when to stop. We’re shopping and decision guides — not a substitute for iFixit’s free step-by-step manuals, and not a licensed repair shop.
What “good” means here
- Bit steel & coverage — S2 vs soft CR-V; P2, Y000, and the drivers your phone actually uses.
- Opening tools — picks, suction, controlled heat, adhesive that reseals without wishful thinking.
- Parts quality — batteries and screens from sources we’d trust against a chassis, with clear caveats on cheap aftermarket.
- Stop conditions — swelling, liquid, parts-pairing risk, active warranty. DIY bravado isn’t a methodology.
